DU was founded in 1937, during the Dust Bowl when North America’s waterfowl populations were suffering from drought and had fallen to record levels. In a bid to not sit watching as the population of waterfowl on the continent diminished beyond repair A small group of individuals joined forces to create an organization that came to be known in the form of Ducks Unlimited.

Conserves, restores and manages wetlands as well as habitats for the waterfowl of North America. They also provide benefits to other species of wildlife as well as humans. Conservation of waterfowl faces significant issues as wetlands and other habitats are being destroyed in many parts of the globe. Ducks Unlimited has a plan to stop this trend. The mission of Ducks Unlimited is wetlands that will provide our skies with waterfowl now as well as in the future. Ducks Unlimited Georgia will realize its mission by forming diverse private and public partnerships that address the entire variety of issues which continue to destroy the habitat of waterfowl throughout North America.
